ABOUT
The Music Theatre Company EUTOPIA was established in 2006 by actress and director Iris Hatziantoniou and actress Evelina Arapidi in Athens, Greece.
Since the Company’s remarkable debut on the avantgarde play “Spring’s rite” (2006) by Yiannis Kontrafouris, EUTOPIA presents regularly original theatre and music performances in Greece and abroad based on the multifaceted work of a highly motivated group of performers, theatre researchers, musicians, voice and movement artists. Through consistent physical and vocal research, the performers of EUTOPIA study the interaction between theatre and music in its various forms and performance media. Advanced body techniques, such as Suzuki Method, the Method of Terzopoulos, whirling, classical vocal training, Estill Voice Training, are at the core of their practice. The creative process culminates in hybrid forms of art where classical theatre and music, live electronics and new technologies are in dialogue, nurtured by a broad network of international artists and thinkers.
The Company's members are accomplished artists in their fields. In 2018/2019 the performance Pietà has been awarded in the International Theater Festival AndriyivskyFest, in Kiev and in Athens Suitcase Festival (Best Performance, Original Text, Best Actress).
Today the Company includes: George Stefanakidis (author/composer, musician), Evelina Arapidi (theater performer), Vangelis Rokkos (actor), Maira Milolidaki (soprano) and Iris Hatziantoniou (actor/director).
